While there are many who breed these retrievers, we are passionate about protecting the pureness of the breed. Which means:

1. All our dogs have OFA hip, elbow, and eye tests done before they are considered a candidate to be bred. We also only stud our males out to females that also have their OFA.

2. Dogs considered for breeding should be proven in the field. Before a dog will be considered for breeding they will have to prove themselves either on the campaign trail in hunt tests or field trials, or as a hunting companion that shows the ability to train and run at a high level. Good pedigrees are nice but a dog who can prove themselves are top notch!

3. Any breeding should be done with a purpose and thought out carefully. We want to truly improve the breed so throwing random traits together is not the way. Sires and Dams should have traits that complement each other and produce quality offspring.

4. There should be honesty in advertisement. The traits in parents should be clearly stated in any breeding advertisement. While accomplishments are great, they are not the only things to consider when breeding dogs. Any GCK breeding will outline each parent’s strengths and weaknesses and where they complement each other. This way we can match the right puppies to the right owners.

5. Not all dogs are good candidates for breeding. Dogs with certain characteristics should not be bred and pass those genetics on. Vocalness, low trainability, low desire, poor kennel behaviors, etc.

We LOVE all our fur friends / babies. However, we take this part of our business very serious. We want only the best for our puppies, our owners, and our line of work.
